6B-Series Hive Armor Tile — RF1 ICW

About This Product

Individual ballistic armor tiles designed to fit hive-pattern pockets used in the Russian 6B5-15, 6B3, and other compatible 6B-series ballistic vests. The hive (Ulej) pattern uses overlapping scale-style tiles to provide broader torso coverage than Western SAPI plates. Vest covers and carriers are NOT included.

Protection Level: This tile is designed to be worn in conjunction with (ICW) functional soft armor rated at the NIJ HG2 level (under NIJ 0101.07) or the legacy Level IIIA equivalent. The combined system provides NIJ 0101.07 RF1 rifle protection.

⚠️ REQUIRED: Soft armor backing. This tile does NOT provide rifle protection on its own. You MUST wear functional, in-service-life soft armor at the HG2 / IIIA level behind this tile for the rated protection to apply. Most soft armor carries a 5-year manufacturer service life — if your soft armor is expired, damaged, or you do not have soft armor, contact Gilliam Arms. Replacement HG2 soft armor is available.

The required soft armor specification is also stated on the ballistic label affixed to each tile.

Construction: Multi-layer ballistic construction designed to defeat threats per NIJ 0101.07 RF1 when worn in conjunction with HG2 soft armor.

Cover: Each tile is sealed in a protective covering using ultrasonic welding. Tiles are designed to be inserted into the aramid-lined pockets of an existing 6B-series vest.

Tile Dimensions: Sized to fit 6B-series hive pockets. Contact us to verify fit for your specific vest.

Full Set Weight: Approximately 10.5 lb for a full 37-tile set.

Quantity Guidance: Pocket counts vary by vest model and size. For reference, a Size 2 6B5-15 has 16 pockets in the front panel and 21 pockets in the rear panel. Other models and sizes will have different counts. Please verify your vest's pocket count before ordering. Contact us if you need help determining quantity, or if you need a non-standard count — we can build to your specific number of tiles.

Coverage Note: Russian 6B-series vests provide significantly greater torso coverage than Western SAPI plates. Total armor weight will be higher than a comparable Western plate carrier setup.
